Coaches are role models and need to set positive
examples by:
- Adhering to all rules and regulations as defined in
the U.K.C.A. handbook
- Emphasising that good athletes strive for good mental
and physical health
- Emphasising that winning is the result of teamwork
- Motivate Cheerleaders in the development of self confidence
and self esteem
- Not criticising cheerleaders in front of spectators,
but reserve constructive criticism for later, in private,
or in the presence of squad members if others might benefit
- Not criticising opposing coaches, cheerleaders or fans
by word of mouth or by gesture
- Not using abusive or profane language at any time
- Not inciting un-sportsman like conduct
- Abstaining from the possession and drinking of alcoholic
beverages in the presence of spectators, officials, judges
and/or squad members
- Abstaining from the possession and smoking of tobacco
in the presence of spectators, officials, judges and/or
squad members
- Accepting decisions of officials and judges in competitions
as being final
- Together with officials, be jointly responsible for
the conduct and control of team fans and spectators
Cheerleaders should strive to promote
good sportsmanship by:
- Strive to be modest in victory and gracious in defeat
- Taking responsibility of providing positive leadership
at all times
- Not criticising opposing coaches, cheerleaders or fans
by word of mouth or by gesture
- Not using abusive or profane language at any time
- Abstaining from the possession and drinking of alcoholic
beverages in the presence of spectators, officials, judges
and/or other squads while wearing team uniform and representing
their squad
- Abstaining from the possession and smoking of tobacco
in the presence of spectators, officials, judges and/or
other squads while wearing team uniform and representing
their squad
- Always showing respect and being courteous to officials,
opposing coaches, cheerleaders and fans
- Be ambassadors of good will.
